DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF EXPERT DIET PRESCRIPTION SYSTEM

Background of the study

Expert Diet Prescription System is designed to identify an ailment by its name or symptoms and return a result prescribing an appropriate diet, the expert diet prescription system is an expert medical system, which is centered on Nutrition/Diet. The system is meant to provide direct, non-artificial treatment which is readily absorbed into the bloodstream of human beings.

Abstract

Expert Diet Prescription System (EDPS) is designed to identify an ailment by its name or symptoms, and return a result prescribing an appropriate diet corresponding to that ailment. The system has three access levels to the database, the; patient, doctor and an administrator. The introduction of expert diet system has become very necessary because of the long term devastating effect of drugs either as a result of drug abuse or its reaction on certain patient with exceptional cases. This will readdress the issue of adverse reaction of drugs, by the use of food/fruit as an alternative treatment to drugs.

1.2    Statement of Problem

The difficulty in assessing human medical experts, especially in the remote areas has lead to so many cases of death and serious conditions, shortages of medical facilities and a host of other factors have made it pertinent to develop a system that can meet the present challenges of our time.

The problems associated with use of drugs to cure ailments are enormous. Though effective but do more harm than good. Some drugs can cause liver problem, high blood pressure and other harmful ailment while curing another.

 The introduction of expert diet system has become very necessary because of the long term devastating effect of drugs either as a result of drug abuse or its reaction on certain patient with exceptional cases. This will readdress the issue of adverse reaction of drugs, by the use of food/fruit as an alternative treatment to drugs. As a result of all these problems, the need for an expert diet prescription to provide an alternative to drugs is important.

This project deals with the subject matter “Expert Diet Prescription System for patients”.  

1.3    Significance of the study

This system lays credit to the relevance of the computer and its accessories as opposed to the present method used in the existing system.

The system will be of a very good use to both patients and doctors in the alternative use of drugs. More so, the research work will serve as a reference material for further research work.

1.4   Scope of the study

This project was conceived having looked on the existing project and it recommendation for the improvement on the diet prescription. This project can be used as guide to develop broader projects.
