Speaker asks opposition to support Jonathan

ANTAGONISTS of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan have been advised to change in their opinion and join hands with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to address the current insurgency and the dwindling economy.

The Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Peter Onwusanya, who gave the advise in his New Year message, expressed the hope that 2015 will enhance the political and economic fortunes of Nigeria and Nigerians.

“The position of the opposition in the current political and economic situation is becoming unpatriotic. Every Nigerian must co-operate to find solution.
“Those who are consistently opposed to government policies without preferring solution are not helping the country. Therefore, we must all appreciate the need to support the government so that Nigerians would smile”, he stated.

Onwusanya, who represents Oshinmili South Constituency, commended the people of Delta State for their peaceful disposition that had paved the way for the administration at both the state and federal levels to excel.

While saying Delta State has remained one of the peaceful states in the federation, he attributed the situation to the co-operation of the residents, who are law abiding and ready to support government programmes and policies.

He said the state House of Assembly will cash-in on the people’s co-operation to ensure that laws are made for the betterment of the populace, stressing that it is the belief of the lawmakers that Deltans would reap marginally the benefits of democracy.

The Speaker urged Nigerians to live with hope because 2015 will bring better things and prove cynics wrong, saying contrary to negative predictions, the country would overcome the subsisting challenges.
