Arsenal Given Further Boost In Their Pursuit Of PSG Striker

Arsenal have been handed another boost in their pursuit of Uruguay and PSG forward Edison Cavani after the forward was left out of the clubs winter training camp.

The South American hitman has long been linked with a move to the Premier League with a host of clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool tipped as a potential destination.
However, according to the latest reports in the Metro, the Gunners-who were rumoured to have a bid accepted by the French giants last week- have come one step closer to acquiring their target.

The French side posted a statement on their official website saying that while the club’s Brazilian contingent had joined up with other members of the squad in Morocco ahead of their Qatar winter tour, Cavani would stay back in Paris to train.

"Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian players David Luiz, Marquinhos, Maxwell, Thiago Silva and Lucas arrived, as expected, on Sunday evening in Marrakech and were present at training this morning," the statement reads.

“Javier Pastore rejoins his teammates this afternoon, while Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi resume training back in Paris.”

Lavezzi has also been heavily rumoured to be close to leaving the reigning Ligue 1 champions, so leaving both players out of the training camp leads you to believe that both stars are ready to depart in the upcoming January transfer window.
