Lagos state will this year host the high profile meeting for all medical practitioners in the country, tagged: Clinical Risk and Governance Summit, at the Victoria Crown Plaza Hotel, in Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday 23rd July, the chairman, organising committee, Mr. Joachim Adenusi has stated.
The summit, which will address the issues and challenges affecting healthcare services in Nigeria, will showcase a panel of experts who will be giving advice on how to explore practical ways of dealing with these issues, as well as initiating open discussions on the role of government and regulators in the healthcare industry. Practical quality and safety tools including techniques on how to set up an effective clinical risk function will be also be showcased and discussed.
In his statement, Mr. Adenusi said, “with the challenges currently being faced in the health sector the summit presents a great opportunity for medical practitioners to come together and map out strategies on the way forward. I think the summit is coming at the most appropriate time” he said.
Keynote speakers at the conference include; the Academic Director, Health Care MBA University of St. Thomas USA, Dr. Jack Militello; Medical Director, Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, Dr Femi Olaleye; Professor of Medicine, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Prof. Mustafa Danesi, among others.
The one day Summit, which aims to foster an environment in which patient safety is the norm and encourage proactive accountability for the provision of healthcare in Nigeria, is put together by Conrad Clark, in partnership with The United Kingdom National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), St. Thomas University, USA and Health Care MBA School.
