1.0 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Admission has
always been an important factors in any Universities Irrespective of the status,
whether it is public, federal, state or
private Universities. The social management depends upon the manners which the admission matters are handled and
the image of the University squarely depends upon the functional admission
system. Admission process provides modifying information which is the basic
data of an intending candidate used by
the governing body of any University to offer such students a course of study within the University community as it provide for each curriculum every University requires the
services of an admission department to elevate, effectively in the University
policies by the sense that other interested group such as the students,
guardian, sponsors and supervisors need
to be kept abrade of requirement
producers and placement. The admission
system design is vital to preparation of the student academics pursuits in the
schools, the admission department of a given University as the image maker of
the institutes’ act as an engine room
for information needed by it as they proceed to make decision that will plan
and control the activities in relation to the
value of related outputs but also services as a guide to future institutional policies.
The study is
undertaken by the researcher to point out the problems associated by these
system and suggest possible solution to these problems.
1.1 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMS
Most institutions of higher learning
has experience failure in their
operations in the time past and even nowadays. The reasons is that the admission
procedures are not property managed. There is
therefore the need to correct these abnormalities in the in the admission
system of any institution. The problem
is not properly handled the complex problems it will also hamper the image
and creditability of the institution
concerns. This problem from investigation are caused by the current manual method of admission
used by the University of Uyo which
often resulted in giving admission to student that does not the required
qualification.
